The first Selection Sprint of 2023 has come to an end and we have 3 more to come!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the intense three-week period, a diverse group of people joined a very challenging experience. They\u2019ve faced a rollercoaster of emotions, from moments of frustration and sorrow to moments of sheer happiness and triumph. And all their efforts were for the one and only opportunity to join kood\/J\u00f5hvi with the next batch of students<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though the results are yet to be revealed, we sincerely hope that this Sprint period has been a transformative experience for all involved, regardless of the outcome. As we all know, the true measure of success lies not only in the results but in personal<\/strong> growth<\/strong> and everything experienced along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, let’s uncover unique<\/strong> stories<\/strong> of people who fearlessly leaped into the world of coding for 3 weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet Laura<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“Hello! My name is Laura, I\u2019m 25 years old and I currently work as a Technology Consulting Analyst in Singapore<\/strong>. I love learning new things, to grow and be challenged. A few years back I started to learn piano, and most recently, I have started to take a liking for film photography.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laura has always been interested in coding and came all the way from Singapore for kood\/J\u00f5hvi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

“I have always been curious about coding since University days, I\u2019ve been on the search on how I could continue my education.<\/strong> When I came across kood\/J\u00f5hvi, I was intrigued. I wanted to experience how the program was like. The Selection Sprint was both eye-opening and fun, meeting people from diverse backgrounds, and trying local foods. I am excited to see where coding brings me!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet Toomas<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“Toomas, 62 years old, married 37 of these, with 4 children. Graduated from University of Tartu in 1983 as a sailing coach. Soon after that I stumbled upon a computer for the first time. Liked it straight away<\/strong> but couldn’t find enough time for it. Later, while working some time in the computation center for truck traffic, I finally had a chance to try it again.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toomas is a sailing coach by education.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

“Throughout my life I was interested in philosophy, theology, semiotics, management theory, developmental psychology and programming systems. Sailing remained as hobby, transatlantic adventure from Caribbean through Bermuda to Azores, remaining one of its high points.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And he’s still sailing to this day!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

“Long time ago I worked on a school management system for Collegium Educationis Revaliae database. This database remained in active usage for ~20 years, until E-Kool took over. Now, after early retiring<\/strong>, kood\/J\u00f5hvi is a chance to learn more about programming, communicate with like-minded younger generations, and look for new challenges<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet Liis<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“My name is Liis, I am 28 years old. I am raising a little boy who is almost 2 years old. Previously, I have worked for a long time as a Veterinary Assistant, but this path no longer suits me<\/strong>. I have completed a React training course and I really enjoyed it. So, I hope that this path is the right one for me<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liis is trying out a new career path with applying to kood\/J\u00f5hvi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

“During my free time, I indulge in bouldering and playing the drums. These activities bring me immense joy and help me relax. My life motto is “Being stupid is not an excuse, you just have to study more”<\/strong>!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet Mihkel<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019m Mihkel, 35. Living in Tartu and spent my last 10 years in the cinema industry. Felt like I needed a change<\/strong> for the past 2 years and the video game\/UE path in kood\/J\u00f5hvi sounds really interesting. No background in IT, but I am ready for the challenge. Bonus points for the school’s location as well – I really like travelling around Ida-Virumaa and exploring lesser-known hiking trails and locations in Estonia.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mihkel is an adventurous person by nature.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019m into movies\/travelling\/rock climbing\/hiking\/everything with wheels on it (bikes, cars, motorcycles, skateboards, scooters… you name it and there’s a 99% chance that I want to ride it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
