Welcome to Võru!

kood/Võru brings a new type of coding education to Southern Estonia. Launching already in the fall of 2025! Stay tuned.

The aim of the project is to establish a branch of the kood/Jõhvi programming school in the city of Võru — kood/Võru — along with a network that promotes entrepreneurship.

kood/Võru is a programming school operating as a branch of kood/Jõhvi, offering practical, hands-on education tailored to the needs of the job market. The school brings a new and innovative learning opportunity to Võru County and strengthens the region’s competitiveness in the IT sector. Graduates who successfully complete the program will acquire full-stack development skills, opening doors to career opportunities both in Estonia and internationally.

As part of the kood/Võru project, an elective IT subject will also be developed for high school students, giving them the opportunity to acquire basic knowledge of programming. The aim is to promote the field of programming and broaden the range of choices available to the local community.

The project is being carried out in cooperation between the Võrumaa Arenduskeskus, the City of Võru, MTÜ Tuleviku Tehnoloogiaharidus. Additional partners involved in the project include MTÜ Võru HUUB and the Võrumaa Haridus- ja Tehnoloogiakeskus EWERS

What could possibly connect the future programming school kood/Võru with the former Võru bank building, one of the most striking landmarks in the city?

This representative bank building, designed in the traditionalist style, was completed in 1938 to frame the town square and marketplace of what was then a small provincial town. Now under heritage protection, the building features a characteristic steep roof and a symmetrical façade, adorned with stylised column motifs and national ornamental patterns.

And yes – you’re right! The future home of the kood/Võru school will be located in this very historic building at 25 Tartu Street, Võru.

The approved renovation project takes into account today’s energy efficiency requirements, the needs of people with disabilities, and all the modern facilities necessary for a comfortable learning environment. The 3rd and 4th floors will be refurbished for school use, including a spacious classroom, a lounge area, and an open kitchen. The attic floor will feature two smaller rooms for study and meetings. The central idea of the interior design is to preserve and restore the original style of the representative hall on the 2nd floor, while the interiors of the upper floors, primarily used for teaching, will blend historical and modern elements.

In this way, it’s fair to say that future students of kood/Võru will enjoy a truly exciting learning environment, where heritage and contemporary design come togethe
